Woonsocket men sue Baldelli-Hunt around Facebook ban and initial modification

PROVIDENCE — Greg Duhamel criticized Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt for taking what he observed as undue credit history for a area skate park. Thomas Dubois inquired about construction.

Both equally gentlemen discovered their responses deleted — and then they were being banned completely from Baldelli-Hunt’s Facebook page.

Duhamel and Dubois are now accusing Baldelli-Hunt of violating their First Modification legal rights by blocking them from commenting on her mayoral Facebook page thanks to their criticism and views.

“Just as community officers might not preclude individuals from collaborating in the general public remark portion of a town hall conference centered on their viewpoints, Mayor Baldelli-Hunt are unable to ban users from the @LISABALDELLIHUNT Facebook web page since she dislikes their opinions,” the gentlemen said in a lawsuit filed Thursday in U.S. District Court by the American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island.
